ICS challenge . . . just in the nick of time!

Many grovelling apologies Dawn . . . I forgot to put my card on before now . . . and I know that I am very near to closing time - whoops! I made this card on Saturday but forgot to blog it or even schedule it to appear. We were so busy with Aaron's play this weekend that I totally forgot.

Regular visitors here know that I do adore the Inspirational Card Sketches blog and participate weekly (if time doesn't run out) and this weeks sketch was a brilliant one (again). For once I have stuck to the sketch and used a fab image sent to me by Diana (cheers hun).

I cut out the large flower using a punched circle as my template. The inner scalloped circle was sent to me eons ago. I have then punched out some scalloped circles for the added bits layering them with more flowers, leaves & stamped sentiment. The leaves are also hand cut using up scraps from my scrap box. The butterfly was just added for a different focal point.

Papers: DCWV wedding stack
Image: Stamping Bella - MissMatch Ketto

I have used watercolour pencils on the Miss Match Ketto image with some added white gel pen highlights.

I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Challenge which is to make a happy card for a child and send it to either "Post Pals or "Make a Child Smile". The only downside is choosing one particular child . . . me thinks will have to make a whole load more cards to send to both charities. It's such a fab idea and enjoyed sending several cards to "Post Pals" from other blog challenges.

Hope everyone is well? I'm a little bit sad . . . my youngest Aaron is off on his schools residential trip until Friday and the house is so quiet without him. I know he'll have a good time but . . . . . . . . . . . I will miss him!

Polka Doodles Challenge #6

Yippee it's Friday! It's been a long week and I never thought the weekend would ever arrive! However got a really busy weekend, so no rest there either! Aaron is in a show on Saturday & Sunday and then disappears off for a week on his school trip (big gulp!) where as Luke has finally finished all his GCSE's and now begin the round of balls, parties & trips - when I left school we just signed each others shirts, said goodbye & off we went. Now a days it seems that they say goodbye over a period of weeks & not just a day!

The challenge over at Polkadoodles for the DT was to make a landscape card, use a Polly Polka Doodle image & only use paper ribbons! Here is my card . . .

I have coloured my Polly with Promarkers & the flowers with Sakura glaze pens. All the papers are from the "Sugar Birdies" CD and that HUGE layered flower is from the "Flower Stackers" set (these are definite must have!). Now you guys get to choose to either follow a sketch or make your own landscape card. Pop over to the Polka Doodles blog for the full details etc.

Finally, Nikky is going to be on Create & Craft TV on Wednesday 1st July at 12 showing everyone the fab "Sugar Birdies" CD and other goodies. So please tune in and give her loads & loads of support. I'll be watching just in case they show any of my DT stuff that I have sent her - hey, my 15 mins of fame!

Take care everyone & have a great weekend,

2S4U challenge

I've had a really busy day today. We were on a school trip today to Hatfield Forest and we had the best weather ever. We were hunting for mini-beasts under rotten logs this morning and pond dipping this afternoon. The kids had great fun and we found many mini-beasts. It's a great way to cover a science activity but also remind children about how fragile nature can be if we don't look after it. Have to say though . . . I am shattered . . . mainly from being on "high alert" from the pond dipping (which was actually in a lake) where the kiddies had to climb down to the water first ! ! ! I had vision of very wet, smelly children at one stage as several of the boys really did get a little too close to the water (say no more).

Onto the sketch - I used the sketch to make my card for a very special couple who have been our neighbours for the last 18 years ! They move today and it will be really weird not seeing in the close etc. They are onto pastures new and have decided to completely up sticks and move over 100 miles away. They also have decided to leave their jobs and look for totally different kinds of employment. They were lucky and sold their house within 8 weeks and got the price they wanted for it too - not bad! So with a little tear in my eye, I wish them "GoodLuck on their new Adventure" . . .

Papers & chipboard: Basic Grey, "Sultry"
Sentiment: I typed

I have stuck to the sketch but probably have added wee bits here and there but hey, that's what the sketches are for . . . to spark our imagination. That's my reason anyhow! Off now to finish some more bits that I must get into the post today otherwise a certain person will not be happy - have already sent one parcel but couldn't get everything in!

Take care,

Digital Tuesday & Papertake Weekly Challenges!

Love both of the challenges from Digital Tuesday & Papertake Weekly this week for different reasons . . .

PWC wanted us to use either digital images or paper or even both . . . yep my card has both a digital paper & image on it.

Digital Tuesday wanted us to use up our scraps and as a terrible "keeper" of lickle bits of paper & card (well you never know when you might need them), this type of challenge is just the "kick in the bum" I need to use up those little bits.

Papers: Funky Fairy "Aqualicious" kit
Image: Funky Fairy digi image

I had 3 lickle bits of this paper remaining. 2 of the pieces didn't meet so I have made a further mat to cover where they don't join! The mat itself is an off cut from a scalloped card blank that I knew would come in handy one day (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). I made a frame using a card off cut and have put my "Funky Fairy" image in & out of the frame! The frame has a small bit of ribbon stuck to it - I keep lickle bits of ribbon because they can always be tied onto other bits of ribbon as knots or used to thread buttons. Flowers are from my stash. The "Funky Fairy" has been coloured with my ProMarkers.

Hope my card qualifies for both challenges and now off for a long, severely overdue blog hop.

Funky Fairy challenge - Christmas!

WOW, made some very quick cards today for the Funky Fairy challenge this week . . . the theme is Christmas. I have used small scraps of paper and then embellished with eyelets . . . I so love eyelets and should use them more often (mental note to self!). I made a whole host of similar cards to this design last year for Aaron to give to his class mates. They are quick & easy to make & I think that they still look Christmassy.

Vey simple card design using white paper, chalked along the edges. The layered tree is made using papers from "Let's get Traditional" kit and decorated with candy cane eyelets & angel eyelet on the top of the tree.

Now how simple is this card!?!?! Again using white paper offcuts chalked edges (shimmer chalks) and then a few blue gems to create a snowy look. Finally silver tree eyelets mounted onto blue card with a vellum backing which has had a pale blue backing printed onto it from the FREE "Blue Xmas" kit.

I hand drew the baubles and then cut them out from left over bits from the "Let's Get Traditional" kit. Each bauble has then been decorated with panels (again using offcuts) and finished with various eyelet designs. Doodled to create the strings so that the baubles look like they are hanging down.

Will definitely be making more of these style cards again as they were so quick and also use up bits from my scrap box that I never seem to throw away!

Polka Doodles Challenge

Whoops . . . I am sooooooo useless with the scheduler thingy that I have decided to type my post out. I always get the dates the wrong way round or even the times and on one occasion I put in the wrong year!

Well this week the Polka Doodles DT we were given a really fab sketch by Nikki (Freddie Foo Foo). However Nikky decided that the DT had to follow a certain recipe as well. That meant we had to use pink & orange on our card and also 2 buttons ! For some strange reason I wanted to make a wedding card but then went aaaahhhhh because I forgot the colour combo. After a little teeth gnashing & a bit of cursing, I thought "what the heck" lets have a non-traditional wedding card! So I did!

I have printed the ever so lush "Sugar Swirlies" papers directly onto ivory pearlescent card which added an extra sheen to their design. I have then used this card to make a "stair card" as I thought I could use the different levels of the card to appear like a wedding cake . . . well in my mind that was what I envisaged.

top view

side view

I also printed 2 birdies onto pearlescent card and turned them into a bride & groom birdie. For the groom I added a top hat and a cravat (secured with 1 of my required buttons)

For the bride, I made a veil decorated with little flowers . . . which now looks more like a Native American head dress rather than a veil . . . oh well !

At the very back I cut a huge heart and then filled it off with lots of little hearts. It is then finished off with organza ribbon & my 2nd button. All the vellum stickers used are from Reminisce. We hope to see you all join in this week, so pop over to the Polka Doodles blog and see the other projects the other DT have made . . . they are all fabaroonie.

Happy Friday everyone and yippee . . . it's the weekend,

Charisma Cards challenge

Charisma Cardz are another favourite challenge blog of mine which I have sadly neglected for the last fortnight! Loads to do but not enough time in the day to do everything! Their theme this week is something yummy and I knew straight away what I wanted to do . . . which was a blessing as this card was made quickly as Aaron was still at the "Mum, I'm going to be sick" stage.

The papers I have used are from the NEW Funky Fairy "Cupcakes" kit and they are divine to say the least. The sentiment & images are also from the same kit. I didn't get chance to enter the Next Level challenge last week but wanted to give the ribbon frame a go, so it now features proudly om my card. Cupcakes were coloured with my trusty ProMarkers.

Many thanks for your kind words about Aaron & he is on the mend . . . however this morning he has come out in a rash with some of the spots having wee blisters on them. Took him up to the Dr's (who saw me pretty quickly, which was a shock) as Aaron has already had Chicken Pox when he was 9 months old & I wanted to know what these were! They say it is a "Non Specific Viral Rash" . . . yep that helps . . . not! Told that he wasn't allowed to go into school until the blistering has subsided which he was over the moon about ! ! ! Luckily the sickness has finished so that's one thing gone only to be replaced by another.

Hope everyone else is well and I am hoping to have a good blog hop tonight as I need to catch up on all the goss.

Whoops, this post was scheduled to appear yesterday . . . yep got scheduler wrong again ! ! !

Stamp Something challenge

Well I did say that I have neglected my stamps for too long & as I am off today as Aaron is unwell, I thought I'd take the opportunity whilst he is in bed to make a card for the Stamp Something Challenge. I have never entered this before but after popping over to Alex's blog, I thought I'd actually give it a go! This week they had a sketch to follow . . .

and here is my card . . .

I have used a "Gorguss Girl" stamped image (received from Diana) coloured with my Promarkers (Cinnamon & Pumpkin along with other highlighting colours) as I am really loving this colour combo from the Passion for Promarkers challenge this week.

I have used lighter shades for the background unlike my previous card for the PfP challenge (here). The background butterfly has been stamped with my SU garden set (think this is what its called) straight onto the background paper (received from Katie). The large butterfly from the same SU stamp set was first stamped on the strip & then the wings stamped again & layered. The sentiment is from my circles SU set. I finished my card off with a wee snail sneaking away in the corner . . (yep, SU again!).

Hope everyone is well and I'm off to eat something whilst Aaron is still resting . . tummy bugs are a great appetite suppressant even if you aren't the one suffering with the bug!

Freebie Papers

What more can us canny crafters ask for . . . free goodies to use ! Yeah . . count me in. Nikky (aka Freddie Foo Foo) from Polka Doodles has put together a fab selection of papers & images as a FREE giveaway and you can claim yours over at the Polka Doodles blog.

Why not use them in this weeks challenge with the other FREE paper Nicky is giving away.

Off to bed now as have to get up in the morning for work . . . however me thinks ! might me be off as Aaron has been up twice so far saying his tummy hurts!

ICS and ProMarkers challenges

WOW, it has been an absolute age since I joined in the ICS challenge (well . . . actually 2 weeks ) and I desperately tried to get a card done last week but just ran out of time. Anyhow have made sure that I join in this week because I do love playing with their sketches. There was also a freebie image to use this week but I wanted to phsically play with my stamps this week but will make another card using the fab image & sentiment.

My colour inspiration for my card was from the Passion for ProMarkers challenge blog - Cinnamon & Pumpkin - unusual I first thought but have to say, loving this colour combo. I also wanted to do some stamping because I have been neglecting my stamps recently so chose this cute Tilda image which I though would suit the colour combo.

Papers: Unknown . . . they were in my "scraps" box
Stamp: Magnolia "Tilda with basket"
Flowers: Hero Arts from Simon Says
Brad: part of a RAK from Mia

I have used additional ProMarker colours - sandstone (to help highlight the hair), blush (as my main skin tone with pastel pink for the cheeks), orange (to darken areas of the flowers & Tilda's top) & henna (for the boots). Have also used my trusty white gel pen to add further highlights.

Quite pleased with my card & it was so good to stamp & colour again. I have promised my stamps not to live it so long next time.

Hope everyone is have a fab Saturday,

Polka Doodles challenge #4

* * * Just for Lora (and her fab words of encouragement) I am also entering my bag/box thingy into the Digital Tuesday Challenge which surprise, surprise is to make a bag/box thingy ! ! ! - thanks Lora * * *

I simply can't believe it but we're on Polka Doodles challenge #4 already and Nicky (aka Freddie Foo Foo) gave us a sketch which really stretched the boundaries . . . well it got my aged brain cells working to say the least!

I decided to make a bag/box thingy this week using the sketch as my inspiration. I cut my own templates and then stuck it all together - nothing complicated there then!

I decorated the front of the box/bag thingy with the scrummy "Lulu Ladybird" papers which are also on the "Sugar Birdies" CD. I then used several Lulu Ladybird toppers on the main image to stand in front of one of the scalloped frames (which I had printed onto a green spots paper). I have also used 3 different ribbons to join the tops together. I think if I made this again, I might make handles this time round . . well any how, it would be a change.

Finally, I added my sentiment using the fab alphabet circles & a fancy flower behind Lulu's ear . . . . ummmm, do Ladybirds have ears?

We all hope that you will be able to join in with us over at Polka Doodles this week & as an incentive Nikky has designed a free paper for you all to use as part of the challenge. Check it out here.

BIG NEWS . . . . BIG NEWS . . . . BIG NEWS

We've been sitting on our hands & zipping those lips for over 2 weeks at Polka Doodles because we had some FAB NEWS but couldn't share it just yet. We all know that the CD is officially launched on the Polka Doodles shop next week & all pre-orders will be sent out then but the CD is going to have its MEGA LAUNCH on IDEAL WORLD/CREATE & CRAFT TV ! So mark off the date 2nd July on your calander - I know I have! So as you can guess, the DT have been BUSY making loads of demo's to share with you all on that day . . . I just hope you love what we have made.

Look forward to popping over to all your blogs to have a good nose at your fab creations & can't wait to see your take on the sketch.

Happy, happy, happy Friday everyone,

Thought I'd better . . .

. . . . make a "Father's Day" card as the day is looming around the corner ! I wanted to do something a little different and used a fab "Funky Fairy" digi image. However, I printed her out a wee bit bigger than I had first thought, so had to rethink my card shape. Finally decided on a stair card (think that's the correct name for them?)

Papers: Funky Fairy's "Hope" kit
Digi image: Funky Fairy
Coloured with my Promarkers

Did you notice that I have squished the corner on the mount that the "Funky Fairy" stands and can't remember how, when, why or where this happened. I have obviously made good that corner now!

I also decorated the back but forgot to take a photo - whoops - needed a place to write my message. Just hope that dadd-i-kins likes the card now - I like to remind every now & then that I was young once!

Hope everyone is well and going for my long overdue blog hop tonight. Apologies to the fab girlies over at ICS but I ran out of time this week to join in the challenge but I promise to definitely join in next week (new sketch tomorrow . . . yippee!).

Take care,

2S4U ultimate showdown!

Finally woken up after a long week. Ooohhh, better explain a little. I haven't just got out of bed (I seem to have lost the ability to lie in . . . I know it's a dreadful thing to admit) but my body & brain are finally working simultaneously. My poor feet are still aching & the muscles in my lower legs wouldn't look out of place on a body builder! Luckily we have decided to have a quiet weekend which is just about all I could manage at the moment.

Several of my goals this week was to join in the 2S4U sketch this week and definitely be part of their "Ultimate Showdown". If you don't know about it, check it out HERE. I needed to make a girly card for a nieces up & coming birthday and used the sketch as my inspiration. However, being me, I flipped the sketch onto its side.

Papers: Polka Doodles "Sugar Birdie" CD
Gems & ribbon from stash

I used a "Polly Polkadoodle" image as my main focal point & then added extra flowers with their gem centres.

Loving the look of the shape of this card & will definitely do this again. I cut about a 1.5cm off one edge and then placing the Polly Polkadoodle topper so that the front of the card rests on this topper - gosh I hope that makes sense but just in case in doesn't here's a photo !

Now better enter it quickly before the time runs out (last minute Minny again) & off to make my "ICS" and "Simon Says" cards before their deadline runs out!

Hope you are all having a great Saturday,

Polka Doodle Challenge #3

Challenge #3 already at Polka Doodles . . . where has the time gone?

Loved the sketch this week as I knew straight away what I wanted to do. Don't you just love it when a plan actually works & I also like my card - double whammy .

I Was also inspired by Kath's card last week and her really clever use of the alphabets - thanks Kath.

Front of card

Inside of card (part 1)

Centre inside of card !

When the card is properly closed it should like the sketch. The only extra I have added is some "Me & My Idea" stickers for the girl & boy. Hope you enjoy using this sketch too and can't wait to see your interpretations - pop over to the Polka Doodles blog now and check out all the "lush fabbiness" the other DT girlies have made.

Hope everyone is well? I'm shattered as I have been running workshops all this week in school as it is "Art Week". We've done loads of different things and the children have made lots of fab stuff and of course the obligatory mess. Well going to have a serious blog hop tonight 'cos I feel that I have been missing loads . . . . . .

Take care,

Happy Birthday dear . . . .

. . . . SHAZ
Happy Birthday to you!

Shaz, the "Head Honcho" over at Funky Fairy's Papercrafts is another year older - don't ask which year as a lady never reveals her true age!

Here's the card I made Shaz and I am now hoping Royal Mail has done it's bit and got it there on time!

I have used a Funky Fairy digi image & the fab "Just a Bit" papers. Loving all those arrows. The sentiment was sent to me by my Mum.

Have a great day Shaz and I hope it is all you want it to be.
