Apologies to . . .

. . . all my DT buddies from Inspirational Card Sketches, "Fab 'n' Funky" and Polka Doodles for not posting and not being on the "ball" with my DT responsibilities. Also further apologies to my SBS29 sistahs for not participating in the group as much as I should - I do pop in when I can and love reading all the emails I receive. Unfortunately the beginning part 2010 is shaping up to be rather crap and I am feeling a little over whelmed at the moment but I am determined to climb the large hill in front of me and look forward to the fun filled journey back down.

Inspirational Card Sketches #55 meets "Fab 'n' Funky" challenges.

I have used Dawn's great sketch from ICS and the colour theme from "F'n'F" to make this card. I have to say I actually now like my card even if it was a complete nightmare to photograph . . doesn't help using a camera you are not familiar with ! I made the background using my SU wheel and cut out the semi-circle and strip. I inked the edges too. The flowers are called "Doodles for Daniel" and come in 3 different sizes. Finally finished with some large ribbon & gems.

I am also entering my card into the following challenge . . .

Cute Card Thursday whose theme is "ribbon-tastic"
Little Red Wagon whose theme this week is also black & white.
Allsorts Challenge - to make a card for Mother's Day . . I have made this card for my step M-I-L (!) for the up and coming day.
Saturday Spotlight who want us to make something clean & simple . . well this card definitely is all of those things.

Polka Doodles challenge was set my me (!) and I asked the DT to make a shaped card. Look I even managed to muck up my own challenge by making a shaped book . . .

All the elements are from the new Polka Doodles CD "Paper Boutique" and it is crammed to the gunnels with great templates for some fresh & fun projects. This cake design can also be made into a HUGE card. I have made 2 of these books so far . . . one for Nikky for the Create & Craft show and another for my nephew . . . well my sister actually who wanted an unusual brag book to put my nephews birthday photo's in for a project at his nursery school !

I am also entering my "Cake book" into this weeks at . .

Quixotic Challenge who wanted us to make something for the boys/men.
Cute Card Thursday whose theme this week is "ribbon-tastic"
JUGS who want us to use "templates" to create our projects this week. Well my book was made using a template and then mounted onto acetate.
Ooh-la-la Creations who wanted us to use some acetate on our project.
Roses on Paper want us to make a boys/mens card . . . I know my project isn't a card but it is themed for a boy !

Have a great weekend everyone and hope to catch up with you all really soon.

Well it's definitely raining here . . .

. . . with loads of problems !!! Steve & I had decided that the house needed a little pick me up, so began decorating with ernest . . . only because we both hate the prep bit, so we do this bit really, really, really quickly so we can begin the painting bit - the messy fun bit ! ! Well, whilst prepping, we decided that we'd replace the naff skirting and began taking the old stuff out. All was going really well (probably too well), however things changed in a BIG way when we got near to the patio doors. We begean to lift the carpet up to get to the skirting to find that it was absolutely sodden. Upon investigation it would appear that the patio door has been leaking in a big way, wrecking the carpet & underlay.

However the worst was yet to come . . . it has totally undermined the floor. Large chunks of the concrete have perished and we now have huge holes in the floor and we can clearly see the footings ! We did panic at this point, swore a little (actually a lot) and than had the "what are we going to do now?" So for the last 2 days, we have had builders in, double glazing people (aaaahhhhhhh . . . why can't they just tell you the price & then GO . . . !) and then the insurance inspectors! So we are getting a new patio door in 2 weeks, the floor done next week and new carpets in 3 weeks . . . all we've got to do now is wait and see what the insurance company will cover! So the motto of this story . . . . DON'T DECORATE !

Well, I didn't expect to write so much as I really wanted to explain why I was late posting my Polka Doodles card and got totally carried away. We were asked to follow a sketch with the added challenge of incorporating a bird . . . so without further ado (and waffle) here is my card . . .

Papers & elements from Candy Doodles CD

Loads of layering and chalking, paper ribbons and voila, my card was completed ! Go check out the Polka doodles challenge blog to see what the other girlies have been making - fab & inpsirational work on that blog.

Am now off to catch up on blogging, emails and anything else that has been neglected the last 48 hours. Have a great weekend everyone,

Wednesday, 17 February 2010

Oh know it's Wednesday . . .

which means Half Term is nearly finished . . . eeek! I am so loving this lounging around in my PJ's for however long I like days . . . well I still have 4 more days until it's back to the norm.

Now this weeks challenge over at "Fab 'n' Funky" challenges is called "It's Childish" which means you can make anything (!) that fits the theme . . . how easy is that? I have made 2 projects too . . .

Papers: Just for Boys from Funky Fairy's Papercrafts

. . . another "Male" birthday card but this time for my football mad nephew. A quick and simple card and not linked to any football club colours ! ! !

Then I did another L/O as one of my New Years Resolutions was to do more scrapbooking this year and have done a fun L/O of Aaron using photo's from when we were in Dublin last year. As you can see Aaron is not at all fazed by the camera and you might even say that he does love to pose!

Papers: Back to Nature from Polka Doodles

All embellishments used from Back to Nature CD from Polka Doodles

Now I am also entering the following additional challenges too:

Creative Craft Challenges - the theme is "music to my ears". Well the football card was inspired by the lyric "he's football crazy, he's football mad, the football it has taken away the little bit o'sense he had!" This is from the "Football Crazy" song. I haven't stretched your challenge too much have I ladies?

Kaboodle Doodle would like us to use "spots & stripes" on our projects.

Cupcake Craft Challenges - which is to keep things "simple". I know the football card looks busy but it is made from 1 image & 2 papers and was very quick to make. The frame has been doodled and simply layered too. I promise that this is a simple card.

My Time to Craft - a colour combo of "green plus one" . I thought I had fully met this challenge but then realised that the colour of the sock wasn't in with the colour combo . . . can you ignore this ladies . . . pretty please !?!??!

Well got to dash and get showered & dressed as we have visitors this afternoon. Hope everyone is well and will catch up with you all this evening.

Yeah . . . some crafting for me !

Have had a busy weekend doing lots of yummy family stuff which has been so great and I think what we all needed but had enough time to make a card for my B-I-L Colin whose birthday is on Thursday. I don't mind showing the card as he is definitely not a blogger or at least, not a craft related blogger !

Was a little cross with myself earlier as I had already made my ICS card as I was determined to be organised this week but when I went to email it to Dawn, I realised I had used the wrong weeks sketch . . . uuurrrrgggghhhh! Unfortunately I can't show you the card as it's for an up and coming week, so the above card for my B-I-L was a struggle to make as I didn't know what I wanted to do ! Just hope Colin likes it now . . . not sure men really care about the cards actually!?!?!?!

I have used the fab sketch from Inspirational Card Sketches this week and also the technique from Just Us Girls to make my card.

Have to say loving the idea of this technique as I have made a tag for Colin's present with the "left over" bits! I am also proud of myself as there is no DP anywhere on my card . . . it's all card stock which has been embossed, inked & chalked. Finally I added some doodled edges.

I am also going to enter my card into the following challenges:

La La Land want us to make a card without any DP - yep, done that !

Charisma Cardz which is to "think male" and as this card is for my B-I-L, I think that angle is covered too.

2 Red Banana's whose theme is "behind the scenes" and although there is no stamped background per say, the hats are their own background ! ! Stretching abit do you think?

Our Creative Corner - who want us to use something old from our stash which is probably still new ! ! Now I can definitely relate to this challenge. The stamps I have used on my card were given to me eons ago and I have neglected the dreadfully . . . so they had to be used!

Now gotta dash as we have optician & dentist appointments today . . . then got to drop one son at a party for a sleepover and take the other son to a different party somewhere else ! Me and hubby are looking forward to a quiet night to night by OURSLEVES . . . yum.

Finally . . .

. . . I have a bit of time to post my DT cards which are a little over due ! ! ! Phew thank goodness, it's half term next week and I intend to totally switch off and catch up with some serious crafting.

The first card is for Inspirational Card Sketchs (ICS) and again Dawn pulled out another fab sketch.

Here's what I came up with but please forgive the poor photo (my camera is finally giving up on me). The card is for my B-I-L Paul whose birthday is on Valentine's Day . . .

Background made using SU Stamp wheel
Sentiment also SU
Letters from Making Memories
String & button from my stash.

I am also entering my card into the Charisma Cardz challenge this week which is to think "male" !

My next card is for "Fab 'n' Funky" challenges whose theme this week is "Shabby Chic". I have used a cute image from Fresh Brewed Designs (this weeks sponsor). I have scrunched, stamped, chalked and embossed this digi image to make it look "shabbier" !

SU Stmaping wheel
Image: Fresh brewed designs
Papers: MME
Ribbon, lace & flower from stash

The background has been stamped with another SU wheel; random chalking & embossing around the edges; layered MME papers & finished off with some lace. The sentiment was computer generated.

Finally my last card that I want to share with you is for Polka Doodles Challenge. The theme this week is "hearts & flowers".

I have used papers from Back to Nature CD and also the Love & Cherish CD; handcut the hearts which have been covered with the same papers & layered. A big organza ribbon and sentiment to finsh the card !

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:

Creative Craft Challenges - Valentine's theme & you can add roses . . . but I haven't . . . lol x

Simon Says Challenge - this weeks theme is Love

As is the theme of this week . . . gotta dash as am on another course tomorrow and got to get my art supplies ready !

Take care,

I will post my cards for both ICS and Fab'n'Funky tonight.

Take care,

Wednesday, 3 February 2010

Silly me !

I left my camera at school yesterday as I was photographing the children whilst they were working. I then put the camera in my locker before toddling off to a meeting. Needless to say, I then forgot to retrieve it before I went home. Why am I telling you all my woes . . . well on the memory card was my photo of my DT project for this weeks "Fab 'n' Funky" challenges which should of been up NOW ! Well better late than never . . . (my motto of this year by the look of things!) . . . here is my card:

Papers: MME
Image: 2 birds & 2 cats by Soft Pencil
Sentiment: SU
Coloured with promarkers & chalks
Ribbon from my stash

"Fab 'n' Funky" are sponsored by Soft Pencil this week and I have used one of their images to create my card. Isn't it adorable? Quick & simple card as time is at a premium this week but I hope it doesn't look too rushed? The challenge over at "Fab 'n' Funky" this week is "Emboss It" and I have embossed that side of my card using a Cuttlebug folder and a rolling pin ! ! ! Might do a tutorial on this to show peeps if anyone interested?

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly - theme this week is "Love Actually" and this image definitely fits the theme.

Passion for Promarkers - the theme is "All creatures great & small"

Gotta go and prep for my art class tomorrow . . . we're making sculptures !

Tuesday, 2 February 2010

Nearly a week has gone by . . .

. . . since I last posted ! Still a little hectic here but is gradually calming down now . . not fully but a little ! I had a little blog hop last night to catch up but unfortunately didn't have enough time to leave many comments, so apologies peeps. Am hoping to get more time tonight (after I've done my homework!), to have another quick blog hop, so fingers crossed will catch up with everyone slowly but surely.

Over at ICS (Inspirational Card Sketches) this week, Dawn has drawn yet another fab sketch for us to play with. The DT were even luckier as ICS is sponsored by Busy Beauties Designs this week and we got to choose an image to play with . . . what fun!

Now, I rotated the sketch 90 clockwise only because I liked the look of the sketch that way (!) and here's what I came up with. The card is going to be for a work colleague whose birthday is very soon . . just hope she likes it !

Papers: MME
Image: Cuppa Sweetness from Busy Beauties
Ribbons from stash
Coloured with Promarkers
Sentiment made on computer.

Now I can't wait to see what you do with the fab sketch this week and pop over to the ICS blog to give the new DT members some "lurve" . . . they are very talented ladies indeed.

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

Colour Create - colour combo this week of soft pink, soft blue, white & silver. I "boobed" a little as I tried to print the sentiment with a silver colour code but it has come out more black or pewter - whoops!

DU2DS - hearts

Creative Inspirations - Feminine - I know my card doesn't feature any ladies (per say) but I do think if has a feminine vibe (!).

Secret Crafter - hearts

Pile It On - Theme is "Enough of Winter colours"

Well gotta dash as am up really early tomorrow morning and need my sleep ! Fingers crossed Mr Scheduler will work properly now . . . yes, I know it's me who mucks it up but hey, it is good to blame Mr Scheduler every now and then ! ! !

What's new on my blog this week ...

' I'm happiest when I'm with you' hanging heart decoration
