Life is much better ....

... when you are laughing.

I adore this phrase from the Studio 12 stamp range (from Polka Doodles) and can't stop using at the moment and have made another project using it. OH recently received a package which had a stiff board enclosed (to protect the item) and it was too good to throw away, so I have turned in to a plaque.

I covered the very stiff, dense card in white acrylic paint and then over stamped on it whilst it was still tacky/wet to create my background. I then rubbed in some glimmer mist using a cotton wool ball to create a subtle shadow. You can see a little bit of my background in the photo below.

I then used my stamp slab to create a background on a piece of cream card and cut a frame out of it and inked the edges. I have kept the middle section for a future project. I then used a flower die cut off  on a tag from a new pair of jeans and layered this with a heart (using the heart stamp slab stamp) and that brilliant phrase.

I found several metal embellishments in my "must use one day" box and as I only had one flower, I cut it in half so it looks like I have used 2 on my project!

I have had this beautiful Petaloo flower for eons and it was just what I needed to finish my project. The butterflies are made using the butterfly slab stamp, over stamped with a different Studio 12 phrase, and then layered on to a further die cut butterfly. My plaque was finished with some corners, tea roses and gems.

To check out the full Studio 12 stamp range, check out the Polka Doodles shop HERE and whilst you're there, check out the Stamp Slab range too.

Have a great day everyone,

PD - home with tree

Here is my canvas for the latest Polka Doodles challenge made using a plethera of Studio 12 stamps. I have stamped the images on to water colour card and then mounted on to felt. I then created a canvas with all the images, layering the houses up, creating clouds and paths from felt. Even the trees are stamped on to felt and then added ...

A quick post from me as have loads to do around the house this weekend following advice from the OT before Steve's operation in May .... eeek, loads of DIY shopping this weekend and then decorating.

Have a great weekend,

No patterned paper CCC

Well my post appeared but when I logged on this evening, the words had disappeared ... SAY WHAT! I had scheduled this post and the one below and for some bizarre "X Files" reason, no wording had appeared .... uuummm, I'm going to blame Mr Blogger as I'm almost sure that I did write something ...!  Now to start all over again ....

Well the challenge over at CCC this week is to use no patterned paper and as I am in a real stamping mode at the mo, this challenge was a breeze. Background made using my Studio 12 Stamp Slab and if you are not sure what this is, check it out HERE. I adore this craft item especially as it is more stable and flexible to use than the Gelli Plate. Should add at this point, that this is my opinion before I get chastised :)

and gems from stash,

I have used loads of different Studio 12 products and just love the collage feel you can create using them. The only bit I didn't make was the torn page from a book and the red ribbon. I even made my own card blank .... lol ! The stamp slab is a great item to use to layer your inks on to create an original background. I have used my distress inks on my slab interspersed with glimmer mists, laying the background first and then stamping on to this and finally, putting my card on top to pick up the design. I have then spritized the remaining ink to create further backgrounds for future projects.

Here is a card I made for my Auntie who heads back to the states this weekend and it was great to catch up with her at my Mum's surprise 70th party. We all had a few Guinness's and lots of chat but remind me never to arrange a surprise party again, especially if it's in a different country to the one you live in!

Well gotta dash and walk the dog as the rain and hail stones have now stopped, so better go before they start again.

Thanks for popping by,

Just remembered ...

... whilst walking the dog, that I had not scheduled my Crafty Creations DT post for TODAY !!! It's amazing how a bracing walk can jog start your memory ...

This week we are sponsored by Lily of the Valley and the theme (rather fittingly) is called "Flowers &/or Fairies". Here is my project ...

I have used a LOTV image but have to be honest and say, I do struggle with these type of cards. Now it's not the images, it is all ME because I normally colour the image and then struggle to find papers to match or create a layout I like. Still not overly happy with the card as I think there is a clash of papers and colours ... if I could, I would carefully rip the image off and start all over again. Maybe it would easier just to re stamp an image and go from there ....

I have used a lot of paper odds and sods, so can't really tell you what I used as I am determined to use up loads of my scraps in the next few weeks. I have boxes full of these precious bits and some are so small, I'm not sure what I'll be able to create with them ... lol. Image had been coloured with Promarkers and I think needs a little glitter or sparkle on it ... what do you think? Also did you notice how I added a smile to the lickle bear ...

I am entering my card in to the following challenges ...

Clear it out - spring with flowers
Shopping our stash - not your normal paper
Eureka Stamps - stripes or circles (I've done a bit of both ... )
The Paper Players - tic, tack ,toe (yellow & green, spring, pearls)

Well gotta dash as have loads to do ready for the party which is in 14 days time .... starting to panic now especially as I have discovered I have run out of ink in the printer .... AAAAHHHHH .... still have loads to print off ....,

Something a little different for me ...

I am knee deep in party preparations for my Mum and her twin brother and have been busy printing photos of them to decorate the rooms. I also thought it would be nice to make a few coasters/drinks mats to put out on the table, with images of them on. Have to say I got a bit carried away and made over 50 different designs .... love Mum to bits but was getting a little tired of seeing her by the end of yesterday ....

Anyhow, here are 3 I made using Craft Artist. I have also printed them as 8" x 8" pages, which I have laminated and now they are ready to decorate the hall too. The coaster/drinks mat designs are roughly 4" x 4" and again have been laminated.

My Uncle Charlie, looking "mean and moody"

Mum and her brother Martin (sadly no longer with us)
Love the quote and photo was taken with his head cropped!

The only photo we can find of them as babies with my nan

I am entering my pages in to the following challenges:

Emergency Crafters - nautical theme (Uncle Charlie's page)
OOZAK - anything goes with ribbon, pearls and lace (The Twins page)
UnstampaBelles Challenge - anything but a card
Card Crafters Circle - babies (The Twins page)

Well better back to the printing as am busy compiling newspaper headlines for the 1940s ...

What's new on my blog this week ...
